Weather in Finland

Weather in Southern Finland is still summerly, giving some hints on the approaching autumn, though. Lately it has been mostly sunny and the temperature has been close to +20C. For the evenings, it is advisable to have some warmer clothes.

AKRR'08 conference programme outline

The scientific programme of AKRR'08, international and interdisciplinary conference on Adaptive Knowledge Representation and Reasoning begins on Wednesday morning 17th of August and ends in the late afternoon of Friday 19th of August.

There will be six keynote presentations. Two of the presentations by Marie Cottrell and José Príncipe are organized in collaboration with the colocated ESTSP'08 event. The four AKRR'08 keynotes include "Neurocognitive Approach to Natural Language Understanding and Creativity" by Wlodzislaw Duch, "Cognitive Architectures and Cognitive Social Simulation" by Ron Sun, "Language Technology and Machine Translation in the European Funding Programmes: the Quest for a New Paradigm" by Kimmo Rossi, and "From Raw Data to Abstract Concepts" by Harri Valpola.

The contributed and invited papers are presented in sessions that include Learning systems, Cognitive architectures, Language and cognition, and Healthcare systems.

AKRR'08 blog available

AKRR'08 blog is now available for all who are participating or otherwise interested in the international and interdisciplinary AKRR'08 conference. The blog will be used before the conference to announce and discuss conference preparations and to provide information on practical matters. During the conference the presentations and discussions can be reported.
